EQ2Emulator.net Website/Services - relocated

Postby John Adams on Thu Jul 01, 2010 10:07 pm

Well, I hadn't counted on relocating our project off LE's servers to my own just yet... I had a bunch of other stuff I hoped to take care of first - but today in the afternoon, LE's IP address went dead - and he is nowhere to be found (probably off getting married, that silly guy!) Tried to contact Rogean too, but I don't think there's anything he could have done about LE's hardware being down...

So, as of tonight (this moment), The eq2emulator.net website, wiki, and loginserver are up and running from my host. I see servers connecting, and I have tested login - but please, let me know if there are any problems.

Note: One thing that we did lose are the few posts that happened between the last backup (June 29th @ 3:30pm) and today at around the same time - sorry to say. Probably not many posts, except me whining, and I think Sylva1n telling Eradani something about harvesting... and a snotty PM to Scatman wondering wtf he is ;)

There will be more ups and downs as I sort out the details of this major transition. I was nowhere near ready for this, so it's all running on a temporary Virtual Machine... til I get the proper server(s) setup. Again, let me know if there are issues.

I have noticed over the past few days that it takes a few retries for Mozilla to connect to Eq2. Never works first time, usually works second time. I figured it might have been something to do with this, I'll let you know if the problem persists.

Yeah hold off on doing anything with LoginServer for a moment. My local copy of the DB was months old, and I am getting the most current one from LE (he had actually shut off his services as we discussed, I just thought I asked for the end of July lol... oops, mis-communication)

For now I will keep the forum activated, and I will look through the posts that were lost and see if any need to be recovered.

Thanks for your patience... looks like we've moved into our new home. Hopefully things run better.

Yeah, I've been mucking with the loginserver and db updater services. You can always try Tess or one of the other servers.
